#4 - Violence
Political Violence is Self-Defeating - Violence split and crippled the anarchist movement in American history and it is splitting the American Left today. There are plenty of people walking away from the violence of Antifa and the threats of violence by protesters such as those shown in the video nearby, just as anarchist sympathizers disgusted by the violence walked away from the anarchist movement in their day. Recently, a former Antifa protester got out, sickened by the violence, calling Antifa “a bunch of thugs that need to be put in jail.” Today’s protesters should understand there are consequences for their actions and for saying things like ‘stab him in the heart’. I heard a liberal mom say she became convinced ‘we have to beef up the military’ because of the Iran nuclear deal. Do it for the children! Similarly, a Democrat came around to the view that unvetted Syrian refugees pose a serious danger to our country and that we need to ‘put Americans first’.
