Illegal Immigration Cronies Rake in Billions

When you hear people talk about ‘global citizens’ and the need to deal with the humanitarian crisis on the border, the first question you should ask is whether or not they are lining their own pockets with government dough to work on a mess they themselves helped to create, by advocating for illegal immigration, open borders, the DREAM Act, etc. Follow the money.
The Reconquista is big business. This document shows all groups awarded grant money from HHS’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in FY 2014. The information is from the official Tracking Accountability in Government Grants System (TAGGS) website. The groups are listed in descending grant amount order. A quick Excel summation shows a total amount of approximately $1.4 billion. This is just for FY 2014, and does not include other years or the additional $948 million Congress is appropriating for unaccompanied alien children (UACs) as this is being written.
A second document shows that the big ticket items in FY 2014 are, by far, for residential and other services for UACs. The document also shows the biggest beneficiaries of government largesse in FY 2014 for UAC services. The top players include what have been dubbed the ‘crony Christian’ groups – BCFS (formerly Baptist Child & Family Services), Catholic Charities, Lutheran Family and Community Services, etc. Liberato.US was the first to report and examine the $190 million contract awarded to BCFS for UAC services. Recently, a story by Judicial Watch covered much of the same ground. Analysis by Liberato.US found that BCFS derives roughly 90 percent of its revenue from government grants. These groups pose as quasi-religious institutions but they are every bit as financially self-interested as any other government contractor and can be expected to behave accordingly. Another grantee – Urban Strategies, LLC (which scored a cool $10,989,568 from ORR in FY 2014) – is a for-profit outfit, according to TAGGS. Don’t look to these grantees, who have massive conflicts of interest, for sound advice on immigration policy.
