- Let’s get one thing straight. Haitians were originally granted temporary protected status in 2010, fifteen years ago, because of an earthquake. That was, at most, 70,000 people, but nearly 350,000 Haitians are in protected status today, i.e., four out of five for non-earthquake reasons (e.g., political instability). The current bill is not an emergency bill; it’s an open borders bill. No wonder bleeding heart RINOs wrong-headedly support it. Haiti’s a messed-up place, to be sure, but we are helping to keep it a basket case by giving people an out instead of requiring them to solve their own problems.
- Thin-skinned RINO Don Bacon is threatening to protect millions of Venezuelans and Salvadorans from deportation because he got criticized for his Haiti vote. That’s not rational. He can’t leave Congress soon enough for our liking.
